Predicting, Finding, and Justifying Data from Verbal Descriptions
Given data in a verbal description, the student will use equations and tables to solve and interpret solutions to problems.
Determining Slopes from Equations, Graphs, and Tables
Given algebraic, tabular, and graphical representations of linear functions, the student will determine the slope of the relationship from each of the representations.
Using Multiplication by a Constant Factor
Given problems involving proportional relationships, the student will use multiplication by a constant factor to solve the problems.
Predicting, Finding, and Justifying Data from a Table
Given data in table form, the student will use the data table to interpret solutions to problems.
TSLP—0–SE—Sustainability—S1—Self-evaluation of TSLP Implementation
The goal of the Texas State Literacy Plan (TSLP) is to ensure that every Texas child is strategically prepared for the literacy demands of college or career by high school graduation.
Language Arts Resources
LAR utilizes many techniques to help students learn the content. This is done by breaking the concepts down into smaller/targeted concepts, utilizing color coding, charts, mnemonics, graphics, audio clips, easy-to-grasp written and/or auditory explanations that students can internalize with ease; font size for emphasis; practice quizzes for students to self-check for understanding; level quizzes that progress from surface knowledge --> to connecting several concepts --> to applying the content to practical examples.
These learning techniques are especially beneficial for students who are English Language Learners (ELL), Limited English Proficient (LEP), English As Second Language (ESL), Special Education (SPED), and/or Sect. 504 students.
Visit the Language Arts Resources site to access student lessons, quizzes, and more!
Exploring the Ratio of Circumference to Diameter
This activity provides an opportunity for students to explore the ratio of the circumference of its circle to the length of its diameter in order to generalize the ratio for pi.
Texas Performance Standards Project
These videos introduce the Texas Performance Standards Project (TPSP), a resource for providing differentiated instruction to gifted/talented (G/T) students.
Food Chains, Food Webs, and Energy Pyramids
This resource provides flexible alternate or additional learning opportunities for students to diagram the flow of energy through living systems, Seventh Grade Science TEKS (7)(5)(C).
Creating Nets for Three-Dimensional Figures
Given nets for three-dimensional figures, the student will apply the formulas for the total and lateral surface area of three-dimensional figures to solve problems using appropriate units of measure.
Drawing Conclusions about Three-Dimensional Figures from Nets
Given a net for a three-dimensional figure, the student will make conjectures and draw conclusions about the three-dimensional figure formed by the given net.
Working on Work
This resources is appropriate for Tier I instruction for the scientific concept of work.
TEA Update on STAAR™ Mathematics - Feb 2013
Julie Guthrie, Director of Math & Science Assessments at the Texas Education Agency, delivers an overview of the STAAR™ program; the STAAR standard-setting process; STAAR mathematics assessments; and implementation of the new mathematics TEKS into STAAR.
Introduction to Plate Tectonics
This resource is intended to use for Tier I classroom instruction.
Human Impact
This resource can be used, in conjunction with best practices, for Tier I classroom instruction.
Finding the Probabilities of Dependent and Independent Events
Given problem situations, the student will find the probability of the dependent and independent events.
Selecting and Using Representations for Collected Data
Given a variety of data (including line plots, line graphs, stem and leaf plots, circle graphs, bar graphs, box and whisker plots, histograms, and Venn diagrams), the student will select and use an appropriate representation for presenting and displaying relationships among the collected data with and without the use of technology
Recognizing Misuses of Graphical or Numerical Information
Given a problem situation, the student will analyze data presented in graphical or tabular form by evaluating the predictions and conclusions based on the information given.
Evaluating Methods of Sampling from a Set of Data
Given a problem situation, the student will evaluate a method of sampling to determine the validity of an inference made from the set of data.
Converting Between Measurement Systems
Given a real-world situation with measurements in either metric/SI or customary units, the student will solve a problem requiring them to convert from one system to the other.
